In her role as coordinator for the Nevada Media Alliance, Vanessa is responsible for overseeing student-produced journalistic content on subjects such as northern Nevada business and economics, environment and culture. She manages relationships with the Nevada Media Alliance’s professional partners, including the Reno Gazette-Journal, KUNR and KNPB; is responsible for all editorial planning and management; and identifies new ways to help grow the Alliance either regionally or through strategic partnerships. Additionally, she is responsible for teaching the Reynolds School’s news studio course each semester.
Beginning June 2015, Vanessa will be piloting a bilingual newsroom for Reynolds students, an innovative program made possible by the Online News Association Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education. The Reynolds School will use the $35,000 grant to establish a student-run Spanish language reporting team through the Nevada Media Alliance to develop bilingual multimedia news coverage ahead of the 2016 presidential election, serving the Latino community of northern Nevada.
A digital marketing instructor, Vanessa is a highly analytical, forward thinker with a proven track record for managing innovate digital solutions for renown brands including Autodesk, Newport Beach & Co., Tahoe South, Wildfire by Google and more. Vanessa previously served as an account manager and strategist for Noble Studios, a full-service digital agency.
