Prepare for a full day of inspiration when 18 speakers and 3 performers take the stage on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center for TEDxUniversityofNevada 2018! Your ticket to the event includes all 21 speakers and performers, catered lunch, one break, and an after party. The program order is below:
This year we have 8 local speakers: Orrin Johnson, Robin Brockelsby, Julie Hogan, Joe Sabini, Daniel Price, Steven Ing, Tony Lillios, and United States Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. Topics from our Reno speakers include free speech, personal safety, cultural appreciation, humility, internet technology, sex, immigration, and living an integral life.
Our 10 non-local speakers include five published book authors and come from as far away as Canada. Topics from these speakers include fake news, free speech, sexual harassment at work, respecting others at work, sports physiology, reducing food waste, responding to natural disasters, networking, and how to build a house by watching YouTube videos.
Jim James of My Morning Jacket will give a much-anticipated solo acoustic performance in the afternoon. Allen Stone will perform a soulful solo acoustic performance right before lunch. Troi Irons and her band will fill the room with energy at the end of the first session.
We will open doors to the event at 8 am, Saturday, January 27, 2018. It’s general admission seating so if you want a front row seat make sure to arrive early. The first session starts at 9 am and feature six speakers, including locals Orrin Johnson, Robin Brockelsby, and authors Sharyl Attkisson and Cara Brookins. The first session closes with a performance by newcomer Troi Irons.
We have a 20-minute break following the first session with refreshments provided and you will be able to purchase books by some of our speakers in our bookstore area. Take your picture in front of our 9ft tall red X or visit our Tap Snap booth for a photo with your friends.
The second session features talks by local entrepreneur Daniel Price, UNR student speaker Joe Sabini, and author Christine Porath. The second session closes with a performance by soulful recording artist Allen Stone.
We then take a 60-minute break and serve you lunch. One again you will have the opportunity to visit our bookstore, take pictures, and chat with the morning speakers.
The third and final session opens with a performance by recording artist Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Following James are strong talks by journalist Mariana Atencio, author David Burkus, local Reno entrepreneur Tony Lillios, and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.
Immediately following the final speaker, we will convene for an after party on the sky bridge between the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and Atlantis Resort Casino. Whole Foods Market Reno will cater food and drinks will be available.
The general admission ticket price is $100 and includes all speakers and performers as well as lunch and a morning break.
