Featured Local Speakers at TEDxUniversityofNevada 2018
Of the 21 TEDx speakers and performers sharing the TEDx stage at TEDxUniversityofNevada on January 27th, did you know that eight of those speakers are area locals, 10 are nationally-based, and three are performers? This diverse set of local TEDx speakers includes a state senator, Internet of Things startup CEO, a University of Nevada, Reno professor, criminal defense attorney, business owner/non-profit leader, sex therapist, an 8-time Ironman and personal development coach, as well as a University of Nevada, Reno student. Carefully curated through a rigorous selection process, each speaker will soon bring their very important idea worth spreading to the stage to share with you!
Featured local TEDx speakers at this year’s TEDx event include:
Catherine Cortez Masto – Born and raised in Las Vegas, Catherine Cortez Masto has spent her career fighting for Nevada’s working families. She served two terms as Attorney General of Nevada and, in November 2016, became the first Latina and the first woman from Nevada ever elected to the United States Senate.
Daniel Price – Daniel is the CEO of Breadware, a Reno-based electronics design and sourcing company that partners with organizations to help them launch new IoT (Internet of Things) products.
Joe Sabini – Joe Sabini is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno. In his free time, he finds passion in music and live productions. He is currently the lighting designer at Grace Church Reno and has played music all over the United States, including Carnegie Hall.
Julie Hogan – Dr. Julie A. Hogan is an associate professor at the University of Nevada Reno’s College of Business. For 30 years, Hogan has been deeply engaged in the topic of culture. Over the past ten years, she has been embracing diversity through the framework of cultural humility.
Orrin Johnson – In 2012, Orrin became a Deputy District Attorney, first serving in Lyon County, and then in Carson City where he currently works as a criminal prosecutor. He has been recognized by Nevada Business Magazine in it’s “Legal Elite” edition as one of the Nevada’s top public sector attorneys in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Robin Brockelsby – Robin is a wife, mother of 3 teenagers, business owner, nationally recognized speaker, and incoming President of the Board for the Crisis Call Center of Nevada. For nearly 20 years, Robin has owned and operated multiple businesses in Northern Nevada, including Creative Coverings.
Steven Ing – Steven Ing is reframing an important conversation in society — one about the intelligent management of human sexuality. He is a sought-after trainer, speaker and therapist, bringing nearly three decades of experience to his audiences and clients. His critically acclaimed book, “We’re All Like This,” is used as a text in Human Sexuality classes in university classrooms. Also, check out this recent radio interview with Steven:
Tony Lillios – Tony Lillios is an Integral Coach in personal development who is passionate about bringing transformational tools to larger audiences. As a serial entrepreneur, Tony founded and grew several companies, most notably the mobile case and accessory company, Speck Products. As an 8-time Ironman and a seasoned open water swimmer, he became the first swimmer to complete a round-trip swim across the deep cold waters of Crater Lake.
