TEDx events have been held in 2500 cities in 130 countries and 103 languages. There have been 100,000 videos of TEDx talks posted to TEDx Talks on YouTube. The 103 videos recorded at TEDxUniversityofNevada from 2013 to 2017 have over 25 million views, making this Reno event an integral part of the global conversation about “ideas worth spreading.” On Saturday, January 27, 2018, join a live audience of 1300 to witness 19 speakers and 3 performers in what promises to be the region’s premier event of the year.
Jim James of the internationally acclaimed rock band My Morning Jacket headlines our exciting lineup of performers. James’ most recent work is a 2016 solo album entitled Eternally Even. Allen Stone is working on his fourth full-length album of soulful music that transcends all pop convention. Newcomer Troi Irons will close our first session of the program with a performance we know you will love.
Our 8 local speakers – Robin Brockelsby, Steven Ing, Tony Lillios, Orrin Johnson, Daniel Price, Julie Hogan, and Joe Sabini – will share ideas on a wide range of topics including campus free speech, entrepreneurship, personal safety, and healthy relationships. We expect the videos we record of these Reno TEDx speakers will be viewed by thousands all over the globe for years to come.
Joining our locals are 11 TEDx speakers from across the US and Canada. Book authors on the program are Cara Brookins, Sharyl Attkisson, David Burkus, Christine Porath, John Brenkus, and Lisa Wade. Some of the ideas covered by this group of speakers are fake news, civility, networking, athletic performance, food waste, and sexual behavior.
The general admission ticket price is $100 and includes all speakers and performers as well as lunch and a morning break. Purchase 8 or more tickets at one time and you will receive our group discount rate of $90 per ticket. Students can purchase tickets for $30 by visiting the Wolf Shop on the University of Nevada campus or by emailing Bret Simmons at email@example.com.
