What To Expect When You Attend This Year’s TEDx Event

Parking will be a challenge this year due to multiple events at The Reno Sparks Convention Center, so plan to arrive early, carpool, or park elsewhere. We will open doors to the event at 8 am. Seating is general admission so if you want a front row seat make sure to arrive early. Opening remarks by University President Marc Johnson and Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve start promptly at 8:45 am. The first session starts at 9 am, features six speakers, and closes with a performance by newcomer Sarah Rogo.

We have a 20-minute break following the first session with refreshments provided and you will be able to purchase books by some of our speakers in our bookstore area. Take your picture in front of our 9ft tall red X or visit our Tap Snap booth for a photo with your friends. Visit the displays in our lobby provided by Greater Nevada Credit Union, Renown Health, UNR, College of Business, KPS3, JamPro Music Factory, ASUN, and Bently Heritage. Purchase a commemorative shirt of the event from Custom Ink

The second session opens with an energetic performance by Larkin Poe, who will be followed by talks from six speakers.

We then take an 80-minute break. You can purchase food on site in the concession area, walk next door to The Atlantis, or visit one of the many nearby local food establishments. Once again you will have the opportunity to visit our bookstore, take pictures, and chat with the morning speakers.

The third and final session opens with a performance by recording artist Ruthie Foster. After talks by six speakers including David Wise, comedian Anjelah Johnson will close the show and have the last laugh.

Immediately following the final speaker, we will convene for an after party in the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Whole Foods Market Reno will cater food and drinks will be available.
