Amy Selinger is the founder of Back to Life, a physical therapy practice in San Francisco and Oakland, California that supports people with chronic back, hip and pelvic conditions to live healthy and active lives. She is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the University of California San Francisco/San Francisco State University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. She holds a Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
Through her own struggles with back pain, Amy realized that generalized approaches to chronic musculoskeletal pain are often not helpful and may contribute increasingly to discomfort; and further that each individual’s physical body and movement patterns either support a healthy musculoskeletal system or a painful one. Studying, practicing and using the Movement System Balance approach transformed her own pain and helped her work with patients who come to her practice with diverse and complex, chronic musculoskeletal conditions to achieve increased function and lasting pain relief.
