Dr. Ashley Greenwald Tragash is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Certified Doula who received her Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Reno in Psychology/Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in Behavioral Medicine. While studying for her doctorate, Ashley became interested in a behavioral science account of childbirth. She jokes that the idea came to her in a dream, but quite literally, she woke up one morning with an idea that has inspired her doctoral and post-doctoral career. As a product of her research, Ashley became a passionate child-birth professional, establishing one of Northern Nevada’s premier independent doula practices, assisting in almost 100 births, facilitating the training of several new generations of doulas in the community, as well as disseminating vast amounts of birth research and information amongst the behavioral and medical communities.
In addition to her birth work, Dr. Greenwald is a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Project Director/Principal Investigator at the Nevada Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Technical Assistance Center. Dr. Greenwald has received over $7 million in state and federal grant funding to do community outreach work in Nevada’s schools, correctional facilities, and communities. She has authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles and scientific book chapters. Her research interests include the application of technology within behavioral medicine, behavior science and social change, and the systemic assessment and intervention of behavioral practices in large organizations.
