Dr. Karin Hilgersom serves as the president of Truckee Meadows Community College. She earned her doctorate in Educational Policy and Management, and her Masters in Rhetoric and Communication at the University of Oregon. The community college mission has been Dr. Hilgersom’s lifelong passion. She has worked steadily to transform the lives of students of all ages and backgrounds at large and small community colleges, and believes that workforce education is vital to the health of communities. She has presented on success stories related to this work at many conferences spanning 30 years. As a faculty member, Karin taught thousands of students, and a small team of these students inspired Dr. Hilgersom’s personal and professional commitment in two areas: 1) leveraging technology and the web to improve upon student success, and 2) to making communities sustainability by modeling climate action on college campuses.
Since arriving at TMCC in June 2016, Dr. Hilgersom has also joined the Board of Directors of Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting (PBS), and chairs the Board of High Sierra Industries/WARC, now known as iCelerate.
