Owen Roberts has more than 20 years in the technology industry with leadership roles ranging from Finance to Marketing to Sales to Operations. In his current role as General Manager for Microsoft’s Americas Operations Center, he leads a team of more than 2,000 employees and contractors in operational roles that support the fulfillment and revenue processing operations of the company’s $80+billion business. In addition to developing and nurturing partner and customer relationships, Owen’s team is responsible for building, launching, and maintaining operational programs and processes, and putting the infrastructure in place for Microsoft to support the technology of tomorrow. The majority of Owen’s team does this from right here in Reno.
Owen also carries leadership responsibilities for the Reno office where he works closely with his team to determine the types of investments Microsoft makes in the community to align with the company’s core values and also how to work closely with local government, business and nonprofit organizations, and the Microsoft corporate team to determine how to bring more technology business to Reno.
Prior to joining Operations, Owen was General Manager of Microsoft’s Global Supply Chain where his team was instrumental in launching Microsoft’s Surface device and supporting Xbox 360 and Kinect launches. He is passionate about technology and its potential to change the world. He also admits to being “obsessed” about the customer experience.
Owen is originally from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, has lived in six countries, and became a U.S. Citizen just last year. He is an active outdoorsman, loves the Nevada sunshine, and although he just moved to Nevada this year, he has already spent time on the roads in and around Nevada on his Harley Davidson. He is married with one son in college.
