What is TEDx? The Origins of TEDxUniversityofNevada

TEDxUniversityofNevada is like other TEDx events in that it directly associates itself with TED and commits itself to the spirit of ideas worth spreading. Since our first TEDxUniversityofNevada event (held on January 25, 2013 in the Joe Crowley Student Union at the The University of Nevada, Reno), our speakers and participants have shared and discussed numerous compelling ideas worth spreading. TEDx events carry on the spirit and overall format of a normal TED event, but they showcase local thinkers and speakers from the community. Each TEDx event is local and independently organized. Our seventh event will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and we expect a live audience of over 1300. The 120 videos we’ve posted of talks from our events have combined for more than 26 million views on YouTube.

What is TEDxUniversityofNevada doing next? Our next TEDxUniversityofNevada Event will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

What is TEDx? TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxUniversityofNevada, where “x” denotes an independently organized TED event. At our TEDxUniversityofNevada event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

What is TED providing? TED provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxUniversityofNevada is self-organized. The founding sponsor of TEDxUniversityofNevada is the Online Executive MBA program in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno.
